On this, the 394th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, we have a rain-shortened series with the Brewers to talk about.

Miguel Montero hits the DL and Kris Bryant exits Thursday’s game with an ankle injury. We talk about the impact of both of those injuries.

Andy and Corey watched the South Bend Cubs this week and share a few thoughts. We go through listener questions, share a few INSANE (good) scary stats and Andy shares a Rube Waddell story.

The South Bend Cubs will be visiting our hometown Quad Cities River Bandits this week and we used this as an excuse to take a look at the 2016 South Bend Cubs.

Joining me on this episode is Chris Hagstrom, who works in the front office of the team. Chris talks about the success of the SB Cubs first season in the Cubs organization, the 2016 team and what their ballpark has to offer Cubs fans.

The Cubs won the series, 3 games to 1 and the Cubs offense put on quite a show at Great American Ball Park. We spend most of the episode talking about the three games in detail.

We have a few scary stats of the week, a couple of internet muscle flexes, two asshats of the week and we announce the winner of the box of Rizzo’s cereal.

Welcome to the 391st episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast. For the second time since August, we recorded an episode on the night of a Jake Arrieta no-hitter. Jake does it again, this time against the Reds. The Cubs destroyed the Reds in the first game of the series, 16-0.

While we spend a good amount of time swooning over Jake and the offensive explosion, we also look back on the series win and talk about several on-the-field and off-the-field topics.

We have a scary stat of the (mid)week and Andy shares another Rube Waddell story.

This is the 390th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast and on this episode, we talk about a Cubs sweep vs. the Reds and a series loss to the Rockies.

We start things off by talking about the new Wrigley Field clubhouse. We talk about some of the individual performances in the two series this week. Javier Baez was called up and is already demonstrating his presence at the plate and his versatility in the field.

We share some scary stats and read some internet muscle flexes.

Welcome to the 389th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast. Unfortunately, parts of this episode have a more somber tone than our previous few episodes. Kyle Schwarber is out for the 2016 season and on this episode, we discuss the injury.

How did it happen? What will Schwarber’s recovery look like? How do other athletes recover from this injury/surgery? What might a 2017 Kyle Schwarber look like on the field? Will he play catcher? Can he play outfield? Do the Cubs need to trade him to an AL team so he can be a designated hitter? What does this mean for Schwarber’s service time/free agency date? What will the 2016 Cubs be without Schwarber? Who will play left field? We (attempt to) answer all of these questions on this episode.

We check in on Baez’s progress at extended Spring Training. Oh yeah…there’s baseball games (and Cubs wins) to talk about. We share a few thoughts from the Cubs series with Arizona.

Kurt gives us his Scary Stat of the Week and we read some internet muscle flexes.

The Cubs will host the season home opener on Monday and with a few series at Wrigley, we check in with Pat Nagle of Wrigleyville Nation to see what Cubs fans can expect at Wrigley Field this season, with the on-going construction.

Pat updates us on the renovations inside the ballpark, outside the ballpark and around the neighborhood. He also does this while witnessing Kyle Schwarber’s injury.

Welcome to our first mid-week episode of the 2016 Cubs season. This also happens to be our 387thepisode.

On this episode, we swoon over the 2016 Cubs and their absolute destruction of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. After a slow Spring Training, the offense picks up where it left off in 2015, outscoring the Angels 15-1 in the two game series.

While the sample sizes are way too small to get too crazy about individual performances, Cubs fans have reason to be happy as the team heads back to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks.
