On this episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, we recap the INCREDIBLE last week in Cubs off-season moves. Last week, the Cubs snatched John Lackey away from the Cardinals and this week, the Cubs convinced Jason Heyward to leave St. Louis for less money…and that doesn’t sit well with the best fans in baseball. The Cubs also signed central Illinois native, Ben Zobrist (for less money than other teams offered). The sad news of the week was that these signings were facilitated by the Cubs trading Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees. We talk reflect on the Starlin-era and share some scary stats and our favorite Castro memories. Scott and Andrew from Bronx Pinstripes jump in to talk about Adam Warren. |

Welcome to the 365th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast. This week, the Cubs organization brought home three awards, the Rookie of the Year (Kris Bryant), Manager of the Year (Joe Maddon) and the Cy Young (Jake Arrieta). We talk about what these awards mean to the individual players and the organization. We also look at how these awards could help the Cubs attract their desired free agents. The Cubs have a new radio home, 670AM The Score. Crane Kenney also shared the Cubs plans to have their own network when the current tv deal has expired. We’ve received a lot of email about the Cubs options with free agents, specifically with starting pitchers. On this episode, we explore the different routes the Cubs could take to strengthen their starting pitching, from free agents to trades.
