Ivy Envy - Chicago Cubs Fan Podcast (UNOFFICIAL) (general)

Here we are, Cubs fans. For the first time in our 7 years and 354 episodes of podcasting on the Chicago Cubs, we have a post-season game to talk about.

We dissect this Cubs/Pirates Wild Card game and look at the teams’ offenses and how the starting pitchers have fared against the opposing teams so far this season. We make our predictions and play the predictions that listeners called in.

Before we do that though, we bring on Katie Day, the creator of what many Cubs fans consider to the anthem of this Cubs team’s playoff push, “By the Lakeside”.

Like most Cubs fans, I expect to be paying a lot more attention to the MLB playoffs in 2015 and to get up to speed with the American League teams, I brought on Scott and Andrew from The Bronx Pinstripes Show.

Scott and Andrew talk about this Yankees season and discuss why this Yankees season has flown under the radar than most Yankees teams. They also look at the other teams in the AL playoffs: Astros, Royals, Blue Jays and Rangers.

Welcome to the 352nd episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, which happens to be the last episode of the 2015 regular season. Unlike every other “last episode of the regular season” in the history of this podcast, this is not our last episode of the season.

On this episode, we wrap up the regular season. We talk about some of the big picture reasons we saw this Cubs team win 97 games. We don’t get too into Wednesday’s Wild Card game in Pittsburgh because we will be doing an episode on that game Tuesday night.

We answer several listener questions, we have a few Scary Stats of the Week and we can’t go without Internet Muscle Flexes right now.

This is the 351st episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast. On this episode, we share some post-season plans and resist talking too much about the post-season. We’ll have plenty of opportunities to talk about that. List to the podcast to hear about those opportunities.

We begin wrapping up the 2015 season and briefly talk about the 3-game domination over the Reds that the Cubs just wrapped up. We talk curses, Bartman, player nicknames, definitions of success and how many world series championships we want in a row.

On this, the 350th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, we talk about the Cubs clinching a post-season appearance for the first time since 2008. We talk about the series loss to the Pirates and discuss some takeaways from these games with the team the Cubs will likely face in the wild card game.

It’s very likely that the next week of games will have no bearing on the Cubs position in the post-season, so we talk about where we think we’ll emotionally be in the next week. It’s the calm before the storm. Let’s hope it’s a long, sustained storm and not a flash flood.

We have several listener questions, a scary stat of the week, internet muscle flexes and lots more on this episode.

On this, the 349th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, we look back on the series that the Cubs just wrapped up with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs won the series 2-1 and Jake Arrieta earned his 20th win of the season.

We continue to look towards the playoffs on this episode. The topic of curses, goats, Bartman and Back to the Future II are inevitable, but they can still really annoy us. We talk about the mental state of Cardinals fans, the Cubs performance this season against the 3 NL divisions, the Cubs’ future plans with Starlin Castro. We also award an Asshat of the Week on this episode.

On this, the 348th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, we recap the series that the Cubs just wrapped up with the Cardinals. Apparently, for the Cardinals and their fans, this series started with an injury in the Cubs/Pirates series.

There was no lack of drama in this series. We sort it all out, share our opinions and talk about the playoffs and how this Cubs team is shaping up for post-season play.

In this episode, Kurt talks about Tim Sheridan’s project and the Indie Gogo campaign where you can support Public Address.

On this, the 347th episode of The Ivy Envy Podcast, we talk about the Cubs series win (3 games to 1) in Pittsburgh. The Cubs won some close games and had to scratch out those games and that experience may come in handy in the impending wild card game.

We look ahead at the pitching match-ups for the weekend series with the Cardinals that starts tomorrow. We talk about Jorge Soler’s return to the Cubs and his recent championship with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. We also answer some listener questions.

Welcome to the 347th episode of our podcast, which happens to be our 50th episode of this 2015 Cubs season.

On this episode, we talk about the somewhat disappointing series split (2-2) in Philadelphia. After taking the first two games (Friday’s double-header), the Cubs dropped both weekend games. Key pieces of the bullpen did not look sharp and that raises some concerns as the Cubs position themselves for the post-season.

Speaking of the post-season, the Cubs playoff odds are very near 100%, but there’s still some minor details up in the air and we discuss those things.

We answer several listener questions, share a scary stat and read some internet muscle flexes.

On the last episode of the podcast, we didn’t have a lot of hope for this series with the Cardinals in St. Louis. Other than Wednesdays game, the pitching match-ups weren’t favorable for the Cubs.

However, Cubs batters knocked Cardinals pitching around all over the place and the Cubs won the series 2-1. On this episode, we talk about that series and continue looking ahead to the playoffs and who the Cubs could face, if they get there.
